Connect WordPress with the RankJet Article Publisher plugin, or with an application password

RankJet publishes to WordPress through the RankJet Article Publisher plugin. You install it from the WordPress plugin directory, approve the connection once in your WordPress admin, and from then on every article RankJet publishes arrives on your site as a post. If you cannot install plugins, you can connect with an application password instead.

Connect with the plugin

In RankJet, open Settings, go to the Integrations tab and click Connect on the WordPress card. The RankJet plugin (recommended) tab is already selected.

  1. Enter your site address under Your WordPress address and click Continue
  2. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins, Add New and search for the full name RankJet Article Publisher. Install and activate it. If you prefer, click Download manually in RankJet and upload the plugin yourself
  3. Back in RankJet, click Open my WordPress admin. Your WordPress admin opens in a new tab, on the RankJet settings page
  4. Under Connect this site to RankJet?, click Connect. You need to be signed in to WordPress as an administrator
  5. Return to the RankJet tab. It shows Connected within a few seconds, then asks whether to turn on auto-publish

What the plugin publishes

PartWhere it lands in WordPress
The articleA post with its title, body, excerpt and URL slug
ImagesThe main image becomes the featured image, and the images inside the article are copied into your media library
SEO fieldsThe SEO title, meta description and focus keyword, filled in for Yoast SEO and Rank Math
AuthorThe user you choose under Author on the plugin's settings page in WordPress

When you edit an article and publish it again, RankJet updates the same post instead of creating a second one. To approve posts in WordPress before they go live, turn on Publish as a draft, see Autopilot and calendar.

Connect with an application password

Use this method if you cannot install plugins on your site. It publishes the same posts and images, but it cannot always fill in the Yoast SEO or Rank Math fields.

  1. In the connect window, choose the Application password tab
  2. In your WordPress admin, go to Users, Your Profile and scroll to Application Passwords
  3. Enter a name for the password, for example RankJet, and create it
  4. Copy the password WordPress shows. In RankJet, enter your Site address and Username, paste the password and click Connect

The user needs the Editor or Administrator role, so it can publish posts and upload images. Paste the application password WordPress created, not the password you sign in with.

Troubleshooting

When a connection fails, the usual cause is a security plugin or firewall that blocks the WordPress REST API, such as Wordfence or Really Simple Security. If RankJet says your site blocked the request, allowlist RankJet in that plugin's settings before you try anything else.
What RankJet showsWhat to do
Your site answered, but blocked the requestAllowlist RankJet in your security plugin, then connect again
The site is blocking incoming requests from RankJetThe same block, found after connecting. Scheduled articles do not arrive while it lasts. Allowlist RankJet, then click Check again on the WordPress card
The code may have expiredThe approval link works once and only for a short time. Click Generate a new code and click Connect in WordPress again
We reached your site, but the RankJet plugin is not respondingCheck that RankJet Article Publisher is installed and activated under Plugins
Update the RankJet pluginUpdate RankJet Article Publisher to the latest version under Plugins, then connect again
No WordPress API at that addressEnter the home address of your site, not an admin or inner page, and check that a security plugin is not blocking the REST API

If your site cannot reach RankJet

Some hosts block outgoing requests from WordPress, so the approval in step 4 never reaches RankJet. You can connect with a key instead:

  1. In the RankJet connect window, click My site cannot reach RankJet
  2. In your WordPress admin, go to Settings, RankJet and click Generate a manual connection key under Connect manually
  3. Copy the key, paste it into RankJet under Key from your site and click Connect

This path expects the standard WordPress REST address, so it fails if a security plugin renamed it. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it can publish to your site.

Disconnect

Click Disconnect on the WordPress card in RankJet, or on the plugin's settings page in WordPress. RankJet stops publishing to the site, and posts already published stay where they are.
